Does it froth milk automatically?
No. This model (ECAM29043SB) has a manual milk frother: you hold a jug under the wand and froth it yourself. De'Longhi sells a LatteCrema version (ECAM29084SB) that does it automatically, for more.
What drinks does it make at the touch of a button?
Espresso, coffee and several other one-touch recipes; milk drinks need the manual wand.
Can I adjust the grind?
Yes, the built-in grinder has 13 settings. De'Longhi suggests changing it one click at a time and making a couple of coffees before judging the result.
How big are the water tank and bean hopper?
The water tank holds 1.8 L and the bean hopper 250 g.
How much space does it need?
De'Longhi lists it at 24 cm wide, 44 cm deep and 36 cm tall, and it takes cups up to 14 cm tall.
Is it loud?
The grinder is: TechRadar measured 78 dB while grinding. Brewing is quieter.
Does it suit light-roast beans?
Not really. Expert Reviews found it struggled with lighter roasts; medium and dark roasts taste best from it.
How much cleaning does it need?
Empty the grounds container and drip tray every few days, rinse the removable brew unit about once a week, and descale when it asks — more often in hard-water areas.
Should I get this or the Philips 3300 LatteGo?
The Magnifica Evo if you mostly drink espresso, americano or flat whites and don't mind frothing milk. The Philips if you drink lattes and cappuccinos and want them one-touch.
Should I get this or the Sage/Breville Bambino Plus?
The Magnifica Evo for fresh-bean coffee at the press of a button. The Bambino Plus for better espresso and silkier milk if you'll learn the basics — and buy a grinder.
