Is the Dyson Gen5detect worth it?

Only if you want the very best and don't mind the weight.

Suction, battery life and filtration are all at the top: it ran 75 minutes in TechRadar's test and the whole machine is HEPA sealed. It's heavy and awkward as a handheld, and the V15 cleans almost as well for less.

Things to know before you buy

  1. 01

Top-heavy and tiring in handheld mode.

  2. 02

The floor heads don't get right into edges.

TechRadar picks it as the best premium cordless for its cleaning, filtration and battery, but scores its value 3 out of 5: it's heavy and cheaper models clean nearly as well. Get it for allergies or a big home, otherwise the V15 is the smarter buy.
