Is the Sony PlayStation 5 Pro worth it?
Only for keen gamers with a big 4K TV.
Faster graphics and Sony's PSSR upscaling make many games sharper at 60 frames a second, and it has 2TB of storage and Wi-Fi 7. Reviewers liked it but scored it 7 to 8 out of 10: the gains depend on each game being updated for the Pro, and on a smaller TV they are hard to see. There's no disc drive or vertical stand in the box, and since Sony's 2026 price rise it costs far more than the standard PS5.

How we reached this verdict
Push Square's round-up shows reviewers liked the Pro's sharper image and steadier frame rates but scored it modestly: TechRadar 4/5, IGN 7/10 and GamesRadar 7/10, mostly for the price and the missing disc drive and stand. Sony has since raised the price again, to Β£789.99 and $899.99 from April 2026.
We compared independent expert reviews with the manufacturer's specifications, then checked it's sold at a major retailer where you live. We don't test products ourselves.
