Is the Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer worth it?

Yes — the best cheap blow-dry brush.

It dries and styles in one go, giving a smooth, bouncy blow-dry with volume at the roots in about 10 to 15 minutes, around half the time of a dryer and brush. It runs far cooler than straighteners. It's bulky and heavy, gets hot, is louder than an Airwrap, has only two heat settings plus cool, and does blow-dries, not curls.

What owners say

Owners love the smooth, shiny salon-style finish and how fast it dries and styles hair. The main complaints are that it doesn't add the volume people hoped for and that it's heavy and bulky.

Good to know

  • Bulky and heavy at about 1kg, which makes reaching the roots harder.
  • Gets hot, and is loud.
  • Only two heat settings plus cool, and heat and speed can't be set separately.
  • The head is fixed: no attachments and no curls.
  • Some owners say it stopped working within months, a few with a burning smell.

How we reached this verdict

Expert Reviews got bouncy waves on curly hair in just over 10 minutes, and Woman & Home a smooth salon-style blow-dry on fine hair in 12, about half the usual time. Reviewed's lab measured its air at 165–175°F, far cooler than a flat iron. All three call it bulky and hot, and Woman & Home found it louder than an Airwrap. It isn't sold at Best Buy, so in the US it's on Amazon only.

We compared independent expert reviews with the manufacturer's specifications, then checked it's sold at a major retailer where you live. We don't test products ourselves.
