How does the self-emptying dock work?
Put the vacuum back on its dock and it sucks the dust out of the bin into a sealed container. Shark says the dock holds up to 45 days of dust; Expert Reviews found emptying it took about 30 seconds with no mess.
How long does the battery last?
Up to 60 minutes in Eco mode with a non-motorised tool, per Shark. On the highest setting TechRadar got about 10.5 minutes, so it suits quick, regular cleans better than a whole house on full power.
How long does it take to charge?
About 6 hours, per Shark US.
Is it good with pet hair and long hair?
Yes. Expert Reviews found the head went through long hair and pet fur with no tangling.
Is it good on carpet?
Yes. It senses whether it's on carpet or a hard floor and adjusts, and in Expert Reviews' lab tests it cleaned better than every other vacuum they'd tested, Dysons included.
Is the dock noisy?
Yes, for a few seconds while it empties. T3 found it fairly loud.
How big is the bin?
The vacuum's own bin holds 0.47 L — small, but the dock empties it every time you put it back.
How heavy is it?
Shark lists the vacuum at about 7 lb; the full system with dock is about 14 lb.
What's the warranty?
Check Shark US for the current terms; register it with Shark when you buy.
Should I get this or the Dyson V15 Detect?
The Shark if you want it to empty itself, handle hair without tangling and cost less. The Dyson for the laser that shows dust on hard floors and a battery that clicks out so you can swap in a spare.
