Is the Frigidaire 50-Pint Dehumidifier (FFAD5033W1) worth it?

Yes β€” for basements where you can drain by gravity.

It pulls a lot of moisture out of big, open basements and large rooms, is very energy-efficient for all-day running, and its 2.1-gallon bucket means less emptying. You can drain it continuously with a garden hose, but there's no pump, so it has to run down to a floor drain, and the hose is sold separately. It's somewhat noisy at higher fan speeds and gives off a fair amount of heat.

How we reached this verdict

RTINGS rates it great for basements: amazingly high capacity, plenty of airflow for large rooms, excellent efficiency and a big bucket. It has no pump, you buy the drain hose separately, and it's a little noisy and puts out a fair amount of heat.

We compared independent expert reviews with the manufacturer's specifications, then checked it's sold at a major retailer where you live. We don't test products ourselves.
