Is the HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless worth it?
Yes, if battery life matters most and you play on PC or PS5.
HyperX rates the battery at up to 300 hours, enough for weeks of play between charges. It's comfortable and sturdy, with a slightly bass-heavy sound and a detachable boom mic that sounds clear in a moderately noisy room. It connects only through its USB-A dongle, so it works with PC and PlayStation but not Xbox, and there's no Bluetooth or cable. Some owners report lag when using the app's sound settings.

How we reached this verdict
RTINGS rates it good for wireless gaming: comfortable, a very long battery and a very good mic, but no Bluetooth or wired use and reports of latency with the app. Tom's Hardware (4/5) praises the battery, sound and sturdy build but missed Bluetooth and a cable at its price, and Tom's Guide (4/5) found the battery delivers as promised, with convoluted software and no Xbox, TV or phone support.
We compared independent expert reviews with the manufacturer's specifications, then checked it's sold at a major retailer where you live. We don't test products ourselves.
