Is the HyperX Cloud III worth it?
Yes β the best budget gaming headset.
It's light at about 308g and one of the most comfortable headsets around, with just enough clamp to stay put. A 3.5mm plug works with any controller, including Xbox, and a USB adapter connects it to a PC or PlayStation. The detachable boom mic is good, with a little sibilance, and the mute button is loud. It doesn't block much outside noise, the virtual surround is weak and the HyperX app is poor.

How we reached this verdict
Tom's Hardware calls it a worthy successor to the Cloud II: very comfortable, premium-looking and great value, though the mic has some sibilance, the mute button is loud, the virtual surround is weak and the software is poor. RTINGS finds it very comfortable, with low latency and a very good boom mic, but little bass and poor isolation.
We compared independent expert reviews with the manufacturer's specifications, then checked it's sold at a major retailer where you live. We don't test products ourselves.
