Is the OnePlus Pad 3 worth it?

Yes β€” the best-value big Android tablet.

It has a 13.2-inch, 144Hz screen, a flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, eight loud, wide speakers and a battery that lasted over 16 hours in Tom's Guide's test. It costs less than a 13-inch iPad Air or Galaxy Tab. The screen is LCD rather than OLED, there's no fingerprint reader, the pen and keyboard cost extra, and it gets fewer years of updates than a Samsung.

Good to know

  • Face unlock only, with no fingerprint reader.
  • Three Android upgrades and six years of security updates, fewer than Samsung's seven.
  • In the UK the box has only a cable; the 80W charger is extra.
  • At 675 g it's heavier than the smaller tablets.

How we reached this verdict

Expert Reviews calls it the best Android alternative to the iPad Air, with a massive display and long battery life. Tom's Guide found it the best balance of price and features in Android tablets, lasting 16 hours 21 minutes in its battery test, but missed proper biometrics and longer updates. TechRadar praised the multitasking, bright screen and battery, though accessories add up.

We compared independent expert reviews with the manufacturer's specifications, then checked it's sold at a major retailer where you live. We don't test products ourselves.
