Is the Samsung S95H OLED worth it?

Yes β€” if you want the best OLED for a bright room.

It gets brighter than any OLED before it and its matte screen all but removes reflections, so it looks superb by day and stunning at night with perfect blacks. Colours are accurate out of the box, motion is crisp and all four HDMI ports run games at up to 4K 165Hz. It has no Dolby Vision, blacks look a little raised in a bright room, and the new frame-style design won't suit everyone.

Good to know

  • No Dolby Vision or DTS: HDR films play in HDR10 or HDR10+ instead.
  • Slow camera pans can look a little stuttery, as on every OLED.
  • Blacks look slightly grey in a sunny room.
  • The new frame-style design divides opinion.

How we reached this verdict

RTINGS rates it incredible for mixed use: exceptional brightness, a superb matte coating that takes out reflections, remarkable and accurate colour, and four 4K 165Hz HDMI ports with very low input lag. It marks it down for raised blacks in daylight, stutter in slow pans and no Dolby Vision. TechRadar gives it Editor's Choice as one of the best OLEDs it has tested, held back by the divisive design, weak built-in sound and price.

We compared independent expert reviews with the manufacturer's specifications, then checked it's sold at a major retailer where you live. We don't test products ourselves.
