Is the Sony Bravia 8 II worth it?
Yes β if films and picture accuracy come first.
It has perfect blacks with no blooming, vivid colour and bright HDR highlights, and Sony's processing cleans up streams and upscales old content beautifully. Out of the box it looks the way films were made to look. It isn't as bright as the brightest OLEDs for a sunny room, only two HDMI ports are HDMI 2.1, and it comes in 55 and 65 inches only.

Owners love the picture and the sound from the screen. The main complaints are software glitches and sound going out of sync with soundbars.
Good to know
- Only two of the four HDMI ports are HDMI 2.1.
- Input lag is low but higher than LG and Samsung OLEDs.
- The feet sit near the edges, so you need a wide stand.
- Blacks look greyish with a slight purple tint in a bright room.

How we reached this verdict
What Hi-Fi calls it one of the very best TVs money can buy: exceptionally bright, vibrant and three-dimensional, with perfect blacks and a cinematically authentic picture straight out of the box. RTINGS rates it outstanding for home cinema and excellent for gaming, with amazing processing, but only decent in a bright room and with input lag higher than rival OLEDs.
We compared independent expert reviews with the manufacturer's specifications, then checked it's sold at a major retailer where you live. We don't test products ourselves.
