Is the Sony PlayStation PULSE Elite worth it?

Yes β€” the best headset for PS5 owners.

Its planar magnetic drivers sound rich and detailed, it sets up on a PS5 with no fuss, and the retractable mic is clear. It connects to a PS5, PC or PlayStation Portal through its USB dongle and to your phone over Bluetooth at the same time, and it charges on a hanger that comes in the box. Its battery lasted 53 hours in testing. It's bulky and a little heavy, it blocks little outside noise, some owners have had the connection drop, and on Xbox it only works through its 3.5mm cable.

How we reached this verdict

TechRadar praises its planar drivers, superb PS5 audio, clear retractable mic and PlayStation Portal support, but finds the design bulbous, slightly heavy and the value only so-so. Trusted Reviews calls it a triumph. RTINGS measured 53 hours of battery and found a very good mic, but notes poor isolation and reports of the dongle disconnecting. Currys owners love the sound and comfort; the main complaint is the connection dropping.

We compared independent expert reviews with the manufacturer's specifications, then checked it's sold at a major retailer where you live. We don't test products ourselves.
