Is the TCL PlayCube Projector worth it?

Yes β€” a great portable projector.

At 750 ISO lumens it's bright for its size, enough for most rooms with the blinds down, and it fills 30 to 150 inches in sharp 1080p. Half the cube rotates 90Β° so you can tilt the picture without propping it up, and autofocus, keystone and obstacle avoidance set it up in seconds. Google TV is built in, with Netflix, plus HDMI and USB. The 66Wh battery lasts up to about three hours, the 5W speaker isn't loud, and it costs about Β£799.

  • Battery lasts up to about three hours.

How we reached this verdict

TechRadar recommends it and found it brilliantly simple: a high-quality build, a bright and detailed picture from 30 to 150 inches, quick autofocus and keystone, Google TV and a battery for films and presentations. It marks it down for the price, a limited speaker volume and battery life that can cut it fine for a long film.

We compared independent expert reviews with the manufacturer's specifications, then checked it's sold at a major retailer where you live. We don't test products ourselves.
