Is the TCL QM6K worth it?

Yes β€” a cheap TV that's great for gaming.

Its Mini LED backlight gives deep blacks for the money, colours are accurate in SDR and HDR, and input lag is extremely low, with 4K at 144Hz on two HDMI ports. It's bright enough to beat glare from indirect light. HDR highlights lack punch, there's noticeable haloing around bright objects, and lamps facing the screen and wide seating hurt the picture. It comes in 50 to 98 inches.

Good to know

  • HDR is too dim for real impact.
  • Noticeable haloing around bright objects on dark backgrounds.
  • Reflections from lamps and windows facing it show.
  • Low-resolution video looks a little soft.

How we reached this verdict

RTINGS calls it a well-rounded TV that doesn't excel at any one thing: very good for gaming thanks to extremely low input lag, 144Hz and VRR, with good contrast and very accurate colour. Its HDR brightness is mediocre, haloing is noticeable and it's weak with reflections and from the side. Tom's Guide gives it four stars and names it one of its favourite budget Mini LED TVs.

We compared independent expert reviews with the manufacturer's specifications, then checked it's sold at a major retailer where you live. We don't test products ourselves.
