Does '20L' mean the tank holds 20 litres?

No. 20L is how much water it can pull from the air in a day in warm, very damp test conditions. The tank holds 4.8 L.

How often will I empty the tank?

Every day or two in Trusted Reviews' tests. You can attach a hose to drain it continuously, or buy Meaco's pump to lift the water up to 2.5 m.

How much does it cost to run?

Meaco puts it at about 6p an hour at 26.32p per kWh, and it switches its compressor off once the room reaches your target humidity, so it won't run all day.

Is it good for drying clothes?

Yes. Laundry mode sets the target to 35% and runs for up to six hours. Meaco says a load dries in under five hours.

Is it quiet enough for a bedroom?

Fairly. Meaco quotes 38–40 dB; Trusted Reviews measured 46–49 dB at 1 m. Night mode turns the lights and beeps off and the fan down.

Does it purify the air too?

Yes, it has an H13 HEPA filter that cleans the air it draws through. The filter slides out of the back to clean.

Does it work in a cold room?

It runs from 5°C to 35°C, but like any compressor dehumidifier it removes much less water below about 15°C. For a cold garage or unheated room, a desiccant dehumidifier suits better.

How heavy and big is it?

About 15 kg, and roughly 62 cm tall, 37 cm wide and 27 cm deep.

What's the warranty?

Five years, parts and labour.

Should I get the Arete One 20L or the Arete Two 25L?

The 20L for most houses and flats. The 25L for a bigger or very damp home, or if you dry a lot of washing indoors.
