Is the Elecom HUGE Wireless Trackball (M-HT1DRBK) worth it?

Yes, if you want a finger trackball with lots of buttons.

Unlike Logitech's thumb trackballs, you roll this big 52 mm ball with your fingers while your palm rests on a padded rest. It has a tilting side scroll wheel and plenty of buttons, nearly all programmable in Elecom's software for Windows and Mac. It connects only through its USB receiver and runs on two AA batteries. It's large and right-handed only; one tester found it too big for small hands and another not ideal for large ones, so it suits medium hands best. The wheel and some buttons wobble a little.

Good to know

  • USB receiver only, with no Bluetooth.
  • Large, right-handed only, and best for medium hands.
  • The scroll wheel and some buttons wobble slightly.
  • The button layout takes time to learn.

How we reached this verdict

RTINGS calls it a very good office mouse: well built and comfortable, with a palm rest, a tilting side wheel and nearly every button programmable, but no Bluetooth and a slight wobble in the wheel. Custom PC (76%) liked the big, accurate ball, the extra buttons and the price, but found the layout confusing and the buttons a little loose.

We compared independent expert reviews with the manufacturer's specifications, then checked it's sold at a major retailer where you live. We don't test products ourselves.
