Is the Logitech MX Ergo S Wireless Trackball worth it?
Yes โ if you want to stop moving your arm.
You roll the ball with your thumb and the mouse stays put, so your wrist and shoulder barely move and it works in a small space. A magnetic plate tilts it flat or to 20ยฐ, the clicks are silent, it charges over USB-C and lasts up to about 120 days, and it switches between two devices over Logi Bolt or Bluetooth. In the US it's sold as the MX Ergo S Plus, which adds a 10ยฐ wedge for more tilt. There's no left-handed version, it's heavy and not one to travel with, and a trackball takes practice.

What owners say
Owners love how smooth and precise the trackball is, its build and how it eases arm and wrist pain. The main complaint is soft, mushy main clicks, followed by a trackball some found hard to control.
Good to know
- Right-handed only.
- Heavy, with its tilt plate, so it stays on the desk.
- Takes a while to get used to steering with your thumb.
- Barely changed from the older MX Ergo apart from quieter clicks and USB-C.

How we reached this verdict
Engadget picks it as its best trackball after long-term use: an exact cursor and quick switching between two computers, though it wishes it tilted further. Digital Camera World likes the trackball, buttons and customisation but notes there's no left-handed version and it isn't portable, and says owners of the original MX Ergo needn't upgrade. RTINGS hasn't tested the S yet but lists it as the successor to the MX Ergo it rated highly.
We compared independent expert reviews with the manufacturer's specifications, then checked it's sold at a major retailer where you live. We don't test products ourselves.
