Is the Samsung HW-Q800F worth it?

Yes — the best soundbar and sub for the money.

The bar has a proper centre speaker for clear voices and two up-firing drivers for Atmos, and the small wireless sub adds deep, room-filling bass. It plays DTS:X, has an HDMI input and an optical port, and comes with a remote and a wall bracket. HDMI passthrough tops out at 4K/60, so it's not ideal for a console at 120Hz, and there are no rear speakers unless you buy them.

Good to know

  • HDMI passthrough is 4K/60 only, with no HDMI 2.1.
  • No rear speakers in the box.
  • Samsung's 2026 HW-Q800H has replaced it, so stock is running down.

How we reached this verdict

RTINGS names it the best 5.1 soundbar: balanced out of the box, deep bass from the sub and clear voices from its centre channel, though it calls the Atmos height unremarkable. TechRadar disagrees on that and gives it five stars and an Editor's Choice for phenomenal dialogue and convincing overhead effects. RTINGS prefers it to the newer HW-Q800H, which costs more and sounds brighter.

We compared independent expert reviews with the manufacturer's specifications, then checked it's sold at a major retailer where you live. We don't test products ourselves.
