Is the XGIMI Elfin Flip 4K worth it?

Yes — for a dark bedroom or movie nights anywhere.

It's small and light, its stand doubles as a handle, and it sets itself up with autofocus and keystone, then projects onto a wall or the ceiling. Colours are rich and vivid, the fan is quiet and input lag is very low. It's only bright enough for a dark room, blacks aren't deep, and it has no battery.

Good to know

  • Washed out with any lights on.
  • Blacks aren't very deep.
  • Motion looks choppy from its built-in apps.
  • Some rainbow flashes.

How we reached this verdict

RTINGS names it its best portable projector: exceptionally rich colour, decent contrast, easy setup, a quiet fan and incredibly low input lag with VRR. Its limits are mediocre brightness that suits only dark rooms, blacks that aren't bold and choppy motion from the built-in apps. Engadget gave it 8.6/10 for sharpness and colour.

We compared independent expert reviews with the manufacturer's specifications, then checked it's sold at a major retailer where you live. We don't test products ourselves.
