Is the Meaco DD8L Pro worth it?

Yes — for cold rooms and drying washing.

As a desiccant model it works from 1°C, so it suits garages, lofts, boats and unheated rooms where compressor models slow down. It's compact, holds the humidity you set, drops to about 41 W once it gets there, and its laundry mode dried jumpers in under three hours in testing. Flat out it draws over 400 W, the tank is only 2 L, and it takes about eight minutes to cool down after you switch it off.

Good to know

  • Draws over 400 W flat out and about 640 W in laundry mode.
  • Small 2 L tank, unless you set up the drain hose.
  • Takes about eight minutes to cool down after switching off.

How we reached this verdict

T3 names it its best dehumidifier for medium rooms: it took a room from 60% to 50% in about an hour and dried laundry quickly, and it runs down to 1°C. It uses more electricity than a compressor model, has a smallish tank and is slow to shut down.

We compared independent expert reviews with the manufacturer's specifications, then checked it's sold at a major retailer where you live. We don't test products ourselves.
