Is the New Balance 550 worth it?

Yes โ€” for the look, not long walks.

It's well built, easy to clean, true to size and grips well on wet and dry streets. The sole is firm and stiff, it's heavy, and the leather runs warm in summer. The heel sits high, and RunRepeat found the lockdown a little loose.

Good to know

  • Stiff and firm underfoot, with a dull, flat ride.
  • 452 g per shoe โ€” heavier than most.
  • Runs warm; the leather barely breathes.
  • Runs true to size.
